There’s no better place to start off your vacation in this city than the Lindsay Wildlife Experience.

About the Lindsay Wildlife Experience

The Lindsay Wildlife Experience is both a museum and rehabilitates animals in need of assistance. While aiding these creatures, both adults and children are welcome to explore the facility and learn how to prevent harm on these animals and their environments, which is the overall goal of the center. The animal hospital at the rehabilitation center treats up to 5,600 animals a year, and due to the fact that wildlife has no entitlement to insurance, the hospital is maintained purely through donated funds.

Established in 1955 by Alexander “Sandy” Lindsay, the Lindsay Wildlife Experience was first created as a way to educate school children about the dynamics of nature and earth science. The museum site was subject to several relocations, and the necessity of a wildlife hospital grew as the city became more urbanized. Today, the museum is located in a 28,000 square foot museum in Larkey Park, and hosts over 100,000 people every year.

There are many exhibits available at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience that are certain to astound all who see them, such as the Wildlife Hospital Behind the Scenes and the Raptor Redwood Grove. Also available at this museum are events and educational programs for those interested in learning even more about the facility, and the nature of the animals cared for in the facility. The website for the Lindsay Wildlife Museum even offers an option to adopt an animal in the care of the facility, to aid in caring for the creature.

The Lindsay Wildlife Experience is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Admission for adults is $10 per person. Senior citizens may be admitted for $9, and children between the ages of 2 and 17 for $8. Prices for group admission can be found here.
